Working in soft pastels and pastel pencils allowed me to capture every deep wrinkle, rough fold and glinting drop of water in this piece. I’m very passionate about wildlife conservation and sponsor a baby elephant called ‘Wamata’ through the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. I created this portrait to highlight the power, tenderness and vulnerability of these gentle giants - a reminder of why protecting these majestic creatures and their natural habitats matters so much.
